There are only a few more details to sort out before the unavailing of the new website design, so here’s holding those (very numb) thumbs!

I have also started doing a little more experimenting in GIMP lately. I am using the latest version (v2.7.8) that is heading for the big v2.8 release and I have to say that this piece of software has really come a long way in the last few year.

It has been a few weeks since the last update, but I am getting very close to rolling out the new website. The only thing holding me back at this point is choosing the easiest way for everyone to make purchases.

In the meantime, please take a look at a test that was run in the Lab with the new Dynamic Paint feature added to Blender.

Redesign Update

I am sure that you have noticed the defaulting of the theme here by now. The reason being is that I have finally finished coding the site and am currently putting it through the gauntlet of tests for stability.

The new site is totally responsive and will work on any screen resolution seamlessly, without looking like you should be poking it with a stick.

It is coded in HTML5 and has a little CSS3 goodness mixed in, for that future-proof smell that everyone likes!

I will be keeping the blog in its current state while I recode it to HTML5 too, so apologies are due for the time being.

Everybody reads blogs for content anyway, right?

I will also be posting quite a few new images with the site launch, so keep your finger on the trigger…

Sneaking a Peak

I have taken a little break for the last few days, went on a little trip back up the coast to visit family.

Just before I left, I finalized the new look for the site. This is more of an evolution rather than revolution, but it will mean the move to html5 and CSS3, so that’s future proofing at it best.

Below is an unfair “sneak” at the design in question, so enjoy the sneak preview:

It has been a little longer than usual posting here on the blog, but I have been a little busy elsewhere of late.

I did end up getting an insurance payout for the lens that went to ground . I replaced that kit lens with a wide-angle prime, but I am also going to pick up a new nifty-fifty tomorrow morning!

One of those “busy” things is the site modification, which in all honesty, is always something I have huge issues finalizing. I procrastinate so much with the redesigns each year. With so many ideas, dreams and wants to incorporate into the design, I drive myself insane.

There is one other thing that I am busy with at the moment, that I have to keep under wraps for now, but the reveal will be soon.

In the meantime, there is a little bit of crimson for you:

I have decided to scrap the expansion of the site and do a re-design at the same time as the clean-up. I want to redesign the site to better support for mobile devices and tablets. I was considering just doing a landing page for mobile devices, but I feel that every site online at the moment should be fully accessible from any device.

And with that, I shall leave you all with a photo taken on a Photowalk around the complex I live in.

I have nothing special to announce with this post. I am still busy waiting for my replacement lens to arrive for my camera, then I can go and pick it up and start to wear down the shutter button once more!

Bugged Out

I am still hard at work with the changes to the site, but this post is about something even worse!

My camera is currently out of action, I dropped it a few days ago, it did not enjoy it, and punished me for it by no longer working. I have sent it in for assessment and have received feedback today. Now the correlated information is off to the insurance company for the payout. These sorts of processes always seem to take sooo long and nobody seems be too bothered to speed up the process when you iterate that you rely on these things.

Enough of my woes and on to some exciting things, like another photo!

The below shot was taken in the garden of my old place and has some split toning performed on it in GIMP. I think this effect suits this image, as I imagine this creature on an epic safari across a mysterious land:

Port of Thought

I have been having a look at quite a few portfolio sites belonging to some well-known and some less known photographers and artists in an attempt to learn about expanding this studios exposure.

Some sites have an enormous library of art on show; some even submit images on a daily basis, whereas some others have a carefully selected group of images that only show the strengths or dynamism of the artist. Amongst these sites, images either range the entire career of the artist or display only the latest productions.

I would like to have this website be a portal into the thought process and ambition of the studio but, more and more, also a way for the visitor to take something away for themselves, if they so desire.

On this decision, I am going to be re-structuring the site slightly to make the above mentioned possible.

This will also include a streamlining of the portfolio available here as a whole, which I feel may not at present reflect the absolute pinnacle of what has been produced by the studio.
