Even More July:

Posted 2010/07/20

Due to an Undersea Cable providing banthwidth to the country (SEACOM Cable), having a repeater failure, internet access has not been the smoothest. Some days we had no international access at all. The major downside for the Studio, is that the site is hosted in the USA, making updating the site and posting new material almost impossible. So, the update that was promised, is now slightly delayed, but fear not, it is not *lost at sea*.

A quick update to anounce an addition to the videos section. Another video will follow soon, will be up within the next few days.

July 2010:

Posted 2010/06/30

There have been a few tweaks to the back-end of the site (and background for the keen of eye). I have been hard at work getting to know the compositing system, with the help from a few friends, one in particular...Thanks Andrew!

More to come soon, so hang on, the ball is rolling and there are no handles... bazinga!

June 2010:

I have added a video of the concept done for Dr Gordbort's Raygun Shootout from  WETA, as well as some wallpapers for you all to have your very own Raygun *pew pew* on your desktops! I am also hard a work on some upcoming compositing exercises as part of the productions happening at the moment. Onwards, it is...

May 2010:

I am all too aware of the month that has been sucked into the void of time, but this month has been a tough and extremely busy time in the studio. A lot of time has gone into doing some work for WETA, that will be posted here within the next 6 weeks. In other important news, the teaser for Project Durian is finally up, and can be viewed here.

March 2010:

We are currently attempting to complete the rest of the animation on the cutting edge, using an Alpha Build of the 64-bit version of Blender. The program is currently in Alpha 2 stage, soon to enter Beta 1. In it's current state, Blender is very stable, but not without it's problems. Progress is a little slow at the moment, with a lot of outside influence (read daily life) effecting the project. A video update will follow very soon...

February 2010:

With everybody at Manic Palm Studios suffering from an aggravated case of the well known "itchy ants pants disease", I welcome you to the new site layout. We have decided to make 2010 a happy fun year with large doses of freshness and innovation, which I think is expressed quite well through the new look, don't you think?

December 2009:

I would just like to take the time to wish everyone that celebrate them,  a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you get over-materialized on the 25th and genied up on the 31st!
Manic Palm will be back in full force once more in 2010...

November 2009:

There seems to be almost a month missing out of my life (as well as this website), but I am back now, with an update!
There has been a Vimeo addition to the Downloads section of the site with a test that I conducted this past week.

With the eminent release of Blender 2.5 (already going into Alpha stage today), there will be many more such tests being posted.  I am using the character on the right as a jump start to learn the rigging system I so desperately need to continue with the animation project. Luckily December is a good time for me to accelerate this process.

October 2009:

I just wanted to give a quick update on the progress of the "Greylien" model. Just adding the final details and then the texturing using the Vector modification and an animation test.

September 2009:

I have started on a side-line project together with all the other projects on the go at the moment. It is mainly due to a new modification to Blender that I have come across by a very talented Japanese coder Mato...

This code allows for the use of Vector texturing within Blender. This creates a texture that, if scaled or zoomed in on, will not pixilate at all. No longer will you have to be concerned about texture resolutions or camera distancing during production. This will obviously not be possible for real-time applications e.g. the game engine, but a giant leap forward in pre-rendered animation projects.
I will post some examples as soon as they are presentable. The character to be used is in the media bar.

More August 2009:

I would like to try and get everybody who reads this website to please support the new Open Movie Project, Durian. By pre-ordering the movie, you get your name in credits and support further development of the Blender Software. Thanks in advance...more----home
